MAPPEC has developed the EGLA for transmission lines, which, due to its design and operating principle, has exceptional performance under contamination conditions as it is not permanently connected to the system, in addition to other advantages, such as eliminating varistor degradation (due to operating only when there is an overvoltage), it does not represent an additional burden to the system losses and does not add another point of failure to the system and even in case of EGLA failure, it does not affect the system. The EGLA for transmission is made up of a lightning rod whose non-linear resistive elements are zinc oxide varistors encapsulated in polymeric concrete and confined in a silicone rubber envelope. Because transmission systems are exposed to high levels of Isodensity and even in combination with short circuit current capability, Class 2 and 3 Lightning Rods are offered at MAPPEC. The flexibility and versatility of the EGLA allows its installation in any type of structure and / or arrangement of the system, adapting to the needs of our clients.
